In this article, I introduce you to five very good universities in Africa. You might have heard of some of them but, you may also discover some which you maybe never heard of, and have an excellent teaching quality.
University of Cape Town
The University of Cape Town in South Africa is ranked as the best university in Africa by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. This place is surrounded by an amazing landscape which would take your breath away. You would also like the variety of students coming from all around the world, giving you the opportunity to build amazing friendships.
The teaching quality is also part of what makes this university so unique, as teachers and lecturers are accessible to help you and answer to questions you may have.
Among the former students can be found Mamphela Ramphele, known for her engagement against apartheid. She is also a politician, businesswoman and doctor.
University of Abomey Calavi
This university located in Benin Republic in West Africa, is the best of the country. It has six campuses in the country and the main one is located in the economic capital, Cotonou.
If you are interested in science and social science, this might be an interesting university for you.
Many politicians of the country are former students of this university, among which there was the former president of Benin, Thomas Boni Yayi (2006- 2016).
Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD)
This University also located in West Africa, is one of the top Senegalese universities. The UCAD is a beautiful university with a modern architecture. this university, which was originally a medical school, evolved throughout the years. If you are a French speaker, this university could also be an excellent choice for you, as this is one of the oldest French speaking universities in Africa.
Students come from many countries in Africa such as Togo, Benin, Cameroon or even Morocco, but also from the United Kingdom, Belgium and the United States.
Among the notable alumni, can be found Nelson Mandela.
University of Nairobi
This university is no doubt one of the best in Africa. As their motto is "Committed to Scholarly Excellence", students coming from this university are highly qualified. It is the oldest of the country and it improved its teaching over the years.
Students can also have an amazing experience studying there because the environment is favorable to a great university experience.
The model Iman (widow of David Bowie), was a student of this amazing university.
University of Ghana
This university is excellent for students who want to study the scientific fields, such as medicine. Moreover, the university has some links agreements with some African universities, but also in Europe and North America which gives the opportunity for students exchanges.
The actual president of Ghana, Nana Akufo- Addo was a student of this university.
