Here we are on the third part of this series on Pan Africanism. I will give you the links to the two previous parts at the end of this article. Today we focus on the people that are or were fundamental for the movement and have/had a huge impact on the black community. As I already spoke about some in the previous articles concerning this topic I will give you just some few more notable people who are important in the movement. Enjoy!

Kemi Seba

If you are an English speaker, you may have not heard about him but, he is a major figure in the Pan African community. Originally from Benin, he is fighting for the economic, political and cultural independence of Africa in general. One of his latest fight was against the CFA Franc, money used by the countries of the ECO in West Africa (French speaking countries).

Thomas Sankara

Thomas Sankara was the president of Burkina Faso, killed in Ougadougou in 1987. Sometimes compared to Che Guevara because he is was a important figure of revolution, he fought against the French Neo-colonialism. He is still considered as an important figure especially for the young generations.

Haile Selassie

Haile Selassie is one of the biggest figure of Pan Africanism. he may have never declared himself as such, but his pro- African decisions for his continent makes him one of the greatest leaders of Africa. He modernized his country, and created the Organization of African Union today know as the African Union.

Frantz Fanon

Frantz Fanon who was born in Martinique (French Caribbean), was a writer, psychiatrist but also a psychoanalyst. In fact, he was interested by the impact that colonization that colonization had on the black population. he wrote a lot a books among which there are, Black Skin White Mask or even a Dying Colonialism

These are just a few of the many men and women that fought for the movement. However, do not hesitate to tell me in the comment section who else do you know that is or was a part of the Pan Africanism movement.
